Supporting National Gardening Week at Hammerwich Hall Care Home
6 May 2025
Last week at Hammerwich Hall Care Home, our residents and colleagues took part in National Gardening Week.
From 28th of April to the 4th of May 2025, took place across England in support of new and beginner gardeners creating their first outdoor garden or starting out as indoor ‘plant parents’.
With sunshine and blue skies all week long, our avid residents along with their relatives and our own Wellbeing coordinator, Paulina, took part in a variety of ‘Gardening Club’ activities, where they enjoyed a flower arranging session using flowers ranging from roses and gerberas to chrysanthemums and daisies, all donated by Linda, relative of former-resident Pat Green.
They also enjoyed planting herbs ranging from mint, rosemary, thyme and oregano, and flowers like fuchsias and lavenders in our outdoor herb garden.
At the end of each day, our avid gardeners enjoyed a well-earned breather, spending time in our beautiful garden cooling down with their mocktails and ice lollies.
“There’s no better way to spend National Gardening Week than getting out there with our team of experienced gardeners,” said Paulina, “It’s a great opportunity to promote wellbeing and have fun at the same time.”
“We can’t wait to see the amazing flowers and herbs that our residents planted grow over the coming weeks,” said Peter Bharj, Home Manager. “National Gardening Week is another great way to promote our residents’ physical, emotional and social wellbeing.”
Thanks to everyone who helped us make a success of National Gardening Week at Hammerwich Hall.
