Advinia was founded by Dr Sanjeev Kanoria and his wife Sangita in 1998, with the purchase of Roseacres Care Home in Barnet and has now grown to 36 Care Homes providing nearly 3000 rooms in England and Scotland.
In Sanjeev’s own words:
“I experienced first-hand the reality of the issues facing older people including delayed discharges, resulting in hospital acquired infections, bed sores, mental anxiety during my years as a surgeon and working in the NHS. Sangita and I wanted to offer personalised, high-quality care for older people so they could live happy and contented lives where they were treated with the dignity and respect which they deserve and were not left languishing in hospital beds.”
Unlike many owners, Sanjeev and Sangita have first-hand experience running a care home, managing Roseacres from a small office in the garden at the Home. Their learned to appreciate the concerns and anxiety of older people and their relatives, which have been instrumental in their desire to ensure that older people experience high quality care. The learning and understanding they gained has been passed to Advinia’s team members over 20 years, ensuring the care provided at Advinia Homes is compassionate and high quality.
The word Advinia derives from “A divine entity”. Sanjeev and Sangita envisaged an organisation where the divine qualities of compassion, empathy, creativity, reliability, generosity and selfless duty were embedded at every level.
As Sangita emphasises:
“Our approach is that nothing is too much trouble for Residents – their welfare comes first in every decision we make. We also want Residents to know that we are not just here to support your loved one, but also you, their families. We invite you to visit our Homes, enjoy the atmosphere, hear the music, chatting and laughter and know that your loved one will be well looked after by our teams, as though they are their own Mum or Dad.”
