Couple Celebrate 67th Wedding Anniversary At Annan Court
7 June 2021

Music lovers Bill and Ruth Howden had plenty to celebrate at Annan Court when they marked 67 years of marriage.
The pair who put the secret of their happy marriage down to ‘compromise’ enjoyed their special day at the Watchall Road home.
The couple, who have previously danced competitively, have lived in St Helens for many years and later moved to Enterkinfoot in Scotland and have lived at Annan Court for two years.
Bill, 93, who once had a plumbing and heating business, and Ruth, 88, who worked as an area manager for retail, spent their wedding anniversary being spoilt by staff and family.
As the couple share a love of music, a selection of favourite tunes were played on their day. They also enjoyed a chef’s special menu in the home’s tearoom followed by more music and dancing.
Bill and Ruth have also double the joy with their first great-grandson expected in September.
They have two daughters Lorraine Tatlock and Karen Conlan, and three grandchildren.
Bill, whose hobbies once included fishing, gardening and motorcycling, is currently head gardener at Annan Court’s garden club.
Activities Co-ordinator June Fitzpatrick said: “Bill and Ruth are a lovely couple, and everyone enjoyed the day. They enjoy their time together as well as all the friends they have here.
“It was so good to see them dance together and enjoy the music, 67 years is a truly wonderful benchmark.”
