Afternoon Tea Dates Bring Roseacres Residents And Loved Ones Together
15 October 2020

Roseacres Care Home has been hosting vintage afternoon tea parties for Residents and their loved ones over the past few months, all via the power of technology.
Each week, different Residents get a surprise invitation to a special virtual meet up with their nearest and dearest, delivered by Activities Co-ordinator Beverly.
While Beverly is handling the guest list, Roseacres Chef Juanita gets busy whipping up stunning cakes, muffins and biscuits to serve.
Everything, including the Resident’s choice of refreshments, is presented on beautiful vintage china. The table is set in the light, bright conservatory, overlooking the Home’s lovely gardens.
After the Residents get settled at their table, the guests log into a video call to share the experience with their loved ones.
According to Home Manager Howell Lasco, the feedback has been terrific.
Howell said: “We wanted to make the Residents feel special – and who doesn’t love a sophisticated afternoon tea?
“Although Residents and their families can’t sit at the same table, we’ve provided them with the next best thing.
“Anyone who has tasted Chef Juanita’s baking knows how delicious the cakes are. The Residents are so excited when they get their invites, and they talk about the experience for days afterwards.”
Part of the ritual now involves Residents getting glammed up for their afternoon tea.
Howell added: “It’s lovely to have a reason to get all dressed up to see your loved ones. We can’t wait to host our wonderful afternoon teas in person as soon as it is safe to do so.”
