Local Rotary Club Presents Annan Court With Dementia-friendly Tablet Computers

The Rotary Club of Annan has delighted Residents at Annan Court by donating tablet computers to the Home.

Home Manager Shirley Johnston was presented with the Amazon Fire tablets by Club President Tracy Clifford in early July.

The donation was made to enhance the lives of Residents living with dementia, and each tablet is preloaded with apps recommended by dementia specialists.

Tracy’s club worked in collaboration with the Rotary Foundation to raise funds to buy the technology.

Each year, the Rotary Foundation gives over £50 million worth of grants to Rotary Clubs worldwide for humanitarian projects, vocational training and scholarships in Rotary’s cause areas.

It meant a lot to Shirley and everyone at Annan Court to be one of the recipients.

Shirley said: “We’d like to thank the Rotary Club of Annan and the Rotary Foundation for this incredibly kind donation.

“Technology is paving the way for therapeutic interventions in the lives of people living with dementia.

“The tablets will be put to good use by Residents here, especially as there are already dementia-friendly apps for us to explore.

“This generous and thoughtful donation is gratefully received.”
