Birthday Girl Mildred Celebrates 90th In Style!

It was party time at Bedford Care Home this month when Resident Mildred celebrated her 90th birthday.

Mildred was excited on the run-up to her big day as Care Colleagues promised to spoil her and fellow Residents with some fabulous celebrations.

On the day itself, everybody gathered in the lounge to hear singer Chelsey Whitworth perform a stunning showcase of songs.

She sang classic hits from the likes of Tom Jones, The Carpenters and The Beatles, as well as a beautiful rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ for Mildred.

Activities Co-ordinator Eileen Evans said once Chelsey had sung her final song, the Residents enjoyed a delicious buffet.

Eileen said: “Mildred’s 90th party was terrific, and everyone had a great time.

“The buffet table was full of food including sandwiches, potato salad, sausage rolls, quiche and cakes – so the Residents were spoilt for choice.

“Chef had prepared a beautiful birthday cake just for Mildred, and she was thrilled with it.

“All the well-wishes, cards and pressies made her day.”

During the fun-filled afternoon, Residents stopped to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Mildred and to enjoy a slice of cake.

Mildred and other Residents told Eileen and her Colleagues how much they’d enjoyed the celebrations.

Eileen said: “It means the world to us to see the Residents so happy and to know we’ve made Mildred feel loved and special on her 90th.

“We can’t thank Chelsey enough for coming in to sing for us again. We feel so lucky to have her as one of our cherished volunteers.”
