Braemount Gardening Club Get Busy To Win ‘Advinia In Bloom’

Spring sunshine has provided the perfect opportunity for Residents at Braemount Nursing Care Home to launch their entry for the ‘Advinia In Bloom’ gardening competition.
There are a group of eight keen gardeners among the Home’s Residents, who enjoy their horticultural hobby all year round.
However, when they heard about the ‘Advinia In Bloom’ competition, the gardeners enlisted help from their fellow Residents to plan and pot their fauna.
Home Manager Richard Murray said that the group, who work closely with Braemount Gardener Kenny Simpson, are digging deep for a win.
Richard said: “We’re very excited about the fantastic work our Residents are doing to get Braemount blooming.
“There has been lots of potting, both indoors and outdoors, depending on the weather. We’ve established a greenhouse area in one of our conservatories where some plants are being cultivated before they are established in the ground.
“Residents have also planned to create a wall of sweet peas using our trellis, which is going to look superb when it’s flowering and add some beautiful colour to the grounds.”

Richard said that the gardening group already meet weekly to enjoy their hobby together. Not only does it provide mental stimulation and a chance to socialise, but the work helps Residents get moving too.
Richard added: “It’s lovely to see Residents enjoying the chance to work on a project together and to bring such life and beauty to our grounds.
“Gardening is a positive activity for so many reasons, but not least because all Residents will be able to enjoy the garden as it blooms and grows.”
