Burns Night At Burrswood Lights Up The Home
26 January 2021
It was a Burns Night to remember for the Residents of Burrswood Care Home as they enjoyed traditional Scottish music and food.
The annual celebration of poet Robert Burns’ birthday featured a special menu of haggis, neeps and tatties as well as a car park concert.
Due to current restrictions, Team Burrswood couldn’t invite anyone in to entertain the Residents. However, they were able to get Ramsbottom piper Rob La Terriere to perform outdoors with the audience watching from the window in the warmth.
According to Home Manager Neil Hooley, it was a fantastic night.
Neil said: “We must profusely thank piper Rob for braving the January temperatures to make our Burns Night so memorable.
“His performance was terrific and the Residents loved hearing him play. We were mercifully warm and cosy in the Home – especially with having such a hearty meal to enjoy.
“It was great to sit down at beautifully decorated tables, take a wee dram and tuck into a Burns Night feast. I was honoured to be trusted to light the haggis.”
