Burns Night Party Brings Scotland To Madeira House

Burns Night Party Brings Scotland To Madeira House

The spirit of Scotland was alive at Madeira House this January as Residents attended a joyous Burns Night party.

The Home was decked out with Scottish flags and tartan adornments as Activities Co-ordinators Charlotte Damms and Kat Schiavone hosted a day dedicated to the country.

There were themed quizzes, word searches, and games that tested the Residents’ knowledge of Burns Night.

The tea trolley was stacked with highland treats as Residents got stuck into table decoration crafting.

They upcycled plain bottles with tartan to hold the flag decorations, and the finished table looked picture perfect.

But according to Kat, the highlight of the celebrations came when everyone sat down to enjoy a hearty Burns Night feast.

Kat said: “Chef laid on a delicious Scottish spread with a sensational cranachan dessert.

“We had bagpipe music playing as we tucked in, and there was a drop of wine too.

“The Residents absolutely loved getting together to celebrate, and the whole day was full of joy.

“Burns Night is such a terrific event, and we felt like we channelled the Scottish spirit at Madeira House.”

While the Activities Team took the lead in arranging all the fun, Kat said that Care Colleagues happily joined in as the fun got going.

She said: “It was lovely to see everyone get involved and to have lots of fun together.

“Nobody attempted a Highland Fling, thank heavens! But we feel we did Rabbie Burns and our friends in Scotland proud!”
