Burrswood Residents Score Chef’s ‘Come Dine With Me’ Menu

Two professional chefs were given a grilling by the Residents at Burrswood Care Home when they served up a special ‘Come Dine with Me’ menu.

In-house chefs Adam and TJ were challenged to cook up a delicious dining experience for all, including a panel of Resident judges.

The menu was comprised of favourite dishes picked by the Residents, who spent an enjoyable session deciding what to ask their culinary maestros to whip up.

Everyone agreed that the menu was a winner but it was the fish pie that won the dish of the day, getting full marks from the judges.

According to Home Manager Neil Hooley, it was a foodie adventure that everyone enjoyed.

Neil said: “Our ‘Come Dine with Me’ Night was a roaring success – the chefs were absolutely brilliant.

“We wanted to do something fun as part of our ‘Nutrition and Hydration Week’ and to encourage Residents to take an active role in planning food and menus.

“Food is one of life’s great pleasures and so we wanted to ensure Residents got to enjoy the dishes they love, made from fresh, nutritious produce. So, getting the chance to work on such a special menu together was great.”

As well as cooking the menu, chefs Adam and TJ also served Residents in the dining room. There was wine to accompany the meal for those who enjoy a tipple and soft drinks too. 

The Residents thoroughly enjoyed playing their part as diners in the style of ‘Come Dine with Me’ as many are regular consumers of food shows themselves. 

Since the event, Resident Alan – a self-confessed foodie – has picked dishes to add to the current menu.

Neil said: “We love it when Residents give us direct input into the menu. Alan is a keen food connoisseur so we knew his suggestions would be excellent. It’s great to know the Burrswood menu is going down a storm.”
