Madeira House Celebrates Chinese New Year In Style
16 February 2021

The Year of the Ox got off to a great start at Madeira House this Chinese New Year with delightful decorations and delicious food.
Residents and Colleagues teamed up to celebrate the occasion by completing a host of activities on 12th February.
First up, there was flower arranging, as Residents got to work with some colourful blooms and Chinese dragon decorations. Then there was also a masterclass on making paper versions of the Asian conical hat with plaited ties.
Next, Colleagues supported the Residents to make Chinese-style peanut cookies in the afternoon’s baking session. Chef Jade then presented her awesome dragon cake, made from cupcakes topped with a stunning iced dragon.
Finally, everyone gathered to enjoy a Chinese takeaway in the decorated dining room, complete with fortune cookies and chopsticks.
Activities Lead Jayne said a terrific time was had by all.
Jayne said: “We wanted to make sure the Residents had a wonderful Chinese New Year, full of great food and fun-filled celebrations.
“It was lovely to see them enjoying the craft activities, the baking session and then enjoying a delicious meal in the evening.
“Props to Chef Jade for the most amazing dragon cake. Everyone said how impressed they were with her work.”
