Cloisters Residents Get Their Bake Off On To Learn New Skills
17 January 2021

Residents at Cloisters Care Home have been sharpening up their baking skills – by learning cake decoration techniques.
The keen cooks have been enjoying new sessions where they are taught how to decorate cakes with different icing styles.
Acquiring new skills has become a big trend during the lockdowns, and the Residents of Cloisters were keen to make the most of their time indoors.
According to Activity Co-ordinator Simon, the decorated cakes looked fantastic, and the sessions were full of fun.
Simon said: “The Residents were very excited about learning something new, it was lovely to see their enthusiasm.
“Cake decorating is very relaxing and calming, and the end results look fantastic.
“We wanted everyone to have a go, and many Residents were surprised by how good their decorations looked. We’ll be doing more cake decoration in the future.”
The Home’s busy activities programme is created with input from Residents, so they can try things they’ve always wanted to try and continue to enjoy their favourite pastimes.
Simon added: “It’s always nice to see a Resident discover they’re good at something new, or that they really enjoy an activity they might not have considered before.
“We look forward to introducing more new sessions throughout the year.”
