Cloisters Centenarians Enjoy Fun-filled Birthday Celebrations

Big birthdays were all the rage at Cloisters this June as two Residents celebrated reaching massive milestones.

On 15th June, Resident Jagir turned 100-years-old with a garden party for his family and friends.

Fortunately, the weather allowed his loved ones to safely gather for the celebration on Cloisters’ grounds.

Birthday boy Jagir was showered with love, attention and presents – and received his card from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Activities Co-ordinator Simon said the party was everything Jagir had hoped for.

Simon said: “After the past year or so, the chance to celebrate turning 100 with his family there was a huge treat for Jagir.

“He’s such a kind, gentle man who is a pleasure to have in the Home.

“It’s incredible to think of the life he’s lived over 100 years, and we worked with his family to make sure it was an extra special event.

Later in the month, Resident Gladys also got the VIP treatment for her birthday.

The happy-go-lucky lady turned 106-years-old on 22nd June, making her one of the oldest people living in the UK.

According to Simon, Gladys is a big fan of socialising and loves nothing better than spending time in the lounge chatting to her fellow Residents.

Simon said: “On Gladys’ birthday, we were able to welcome her daughter and grandson to enjoy the day with her.

“It was a happy family occasion, and Gladys adored having birthday bunting, cake and lots of fun.

“She’s a lovely lady who enjoys the companionship she has with our team and the Residents at Cloisters.

“Gladys is still full of surprises – she recently sang some old-time classics at our weekly karaoke afternoon and bought the house down!”
