Cloisters Community Hosts Spirited “Hello Spring” Party
10 April 2024
Residents at Cloisters Care Home decided to shake off the dreary weather and usher in the arrival of spring with a lively celebration. The community, led by residents alongside the wellbeing coordinator and maintenance lead, transformed their space into a vibrant haven adorned with blossoming flowers, marking the beginning of the new season.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by the talented Blazena, who treated Cloisters residents to a nostalgic journey through the sounds of the 50s, 60s, and 70s with her Spring party show. Familiar tunes filled the air, prompting residents, families, and staff alike to join in singing, clapping, and dancing either on the dance floor or from the comfort of their chairs.
Reflecting on the event, resident Sultana shared, “In some cultures, people used to dance to beckon the sun, drawing its likeness with chalk on the ground. Today, we danced for Spring!” The sentiment echoed throughout the room, with resident Sean adding, “Spring is nature’s way of saying, let’s party! And that’s exactly what we’ve done together, as a family. Just look at everyone’s smiles—it’s been wonderful.”
Even those who typically shied away from dancing found themselves caught up in the joyous atmosphere. Resident Ron remarked, “I don’t usually dance, but you’ve got me dancing now, and I’m not going to stop. The music has been terrific!”
The Hello Spring Party proved to be a resounding success, bringing together residents, families, and staff in a celebration of camaraderie and the promise of brighter days ahead.
