Cloisters Nursing Home Hosts Heartwarming Wedding for Resident’s Granddaughter

1 December 2023

This week marked a poignant moment at Cloisters nursing home as Beryl Rowles, a cherished resident, saw her heartfelt wish come true—to attend her granddaughter Kimberly’s wedding to fiancé George. The extraordinary celebration unfolded within the familiar walls of Cloisters, with a charming wedding setup in the Cloisters cafe.

The transformed cafe, adorned with elegant decorations, set the stage for an intimate ceremony. Surrounded by close family and friends, Beryl witnessed the exchange of rings and vows between Kimberly and George, with the bridesmaid officiating the ceremony.

In a touching moment, Kimberly’s father proudly gave her away, sealing the union with the cutting of a stunning wedding cake. The festivities were crowned with a toast to the newlyweds, complete with non-alcoholic champagne.

As Beryl’s health prevented her from attending the wedding in person, the dedicated staff at Cloisters nursing home worked tirelessly to bring the celebration directly to her. This event became a shining example of the power of love, community, and the unwavering commitment of those who go the extra mile to make dreams come true.

In a heartfelt email expressing their gratitude, Kimberly and George conveyed their appreciation for the efforts that made this special day possible:

“Thank you to everyone who made it possible for us to give Nan something she’s been wanting in celebrating George and my wedding. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend our wedding in September, and we did not want to cause her any distress knowing she missed it. Thank you so much for your kindness, compassion, and adjustments that you did to make today happen.”

The wedding at Cloisters nursing home not only fulfilled Beryl’s long-held wish but also became a cherished memory for everyone involved.
