Cloisters’ Summer Party Attended By The King!
10 August 2022
There was high excitement at Cloisters when a special guest rocked up at their summer party – Mr Elvis Presley himself.
The King turned up to perform for his fans at the Home, many of whom have been lifelong admirers.
Thankfully, the weather was stunning as Elvis took to the stage outside to run through a blistering set of his classic hits.
Residents, Relatives and Colleagues all enjoyed toe-tapping along to Blue Suede Shoes, Jailhouse Rock and Love Me Tender, to name but a few.
Activities Co-ordinator Bubs said it was a thrill for everyone there, especially the Elvis aficionados.
Bubs said: “The King has a lot of fans at Cloisters, so when residents were given a choice of entertainers, they choose Elvis as their number one idol!
“Residents were very excited when they found out that he was visiting us.
“Sitting in the sun while listening to The King’s best-loved songs was a real treat, and it was great to see the Residents having such a lovely time.
“No one works the stage like Elvis.”
The summer party was held on Friday 5th August in the late afternoon and the guests enjoyed lots of ice cream and cold refreshments to keep hydrated.
As ever, Cloisters’ lovely garden provided the perfect venue for the fresh air fun, and Bubs says it’s been in use all summer long.
Bubs said: “The Residents love being outside and making good use of our garden.
“We’ve got our gardening club that meets regularly to pot, plant and water. Plus, many of our Residents choose to eat their lunch or dinner outside.
“We’ve also hosted church services in the open air this year, which went down very well.
“When the weather is so lovely, it’s great to have this tranquil outdoor space for the Residents to relax in and to get some fresh air.
“We’re looking forward to hosting many more afternoons outside before the summer is over.”
