Community Fundraisers Deliver New Defibrillator To Thrilled Kingsway House Colleagues

A special delivery arrived at Kingsway House on Christmas Eve as big-hearted fundraisers dropped off their new defibrillator.

Langley Park community group made it their mission to raise money so they could buy defibrillators for the village Care Homes.

Sonia Hewitson, one of the group coordinators, launched the initiative in August and put out the call for help.

The response from local people and businesses was incredible and heartwarming.

Olaf the Snowman and chums presented the defibrillator to delighted Clinical Services Manager Grace on Christmas Eve.

Home Manager Cheryl Bailey said everyone at the Home was thrilled to have the defibrillator at Kingsway House.

Cheryl said: “We are incredibly grateful to Sonia and the Langley Park Community Group for their hard work and generosity.

“Our defibrillator will save lives and offer emergency support to people in need in our part of the village.

“It means the world to us that our community has worked together to provide us with this vital resource.”

Fundraising activities included an Autumn and Christmas Fayre in the village. There was also a special raffle and sponsored Welly Walks by local primary school children.

Businesses around the area donated raffle and tombola prizes so they could sell tickets during the fundraising period.

Cheryl added: “It’s lovely that people of all different ages in the community came together to raise this money and help.

“The care and kindness from children, families, neighbours and businesses in Langley Park have been wonderful.

“We feel blessed to be at the heart of such an amazing village and we hope our defibrillator will help others in their moment of need.”
