Powerful Dementia Play Arrives At Advinia South West Homes
7 November 2022
A play which charts a family’s experience of dementia through the eyes of a child will be performed at two Advinia Care Homes this winter.
Grandma, Remember Me? will come to Bishop’s Cleeve Care Home on Wednesday 23rd November, and Alma Barn Lodge on Thursday 24th November. Both performances will begin at 10.30am.
The play tells the story of Lily, a young child whose relationship with her grandma changes beyond all recognition due to Alzheimer’s disease.
Through the changes in her grandma’s personality and behaviour, Lily and her family navigate the challenges of dementia and move towards a place of acceptance.
The play is a profoundly moving production written by Belinda Lazenby, who went through a similar experience to Lily when her grandmother developed dementia.
Customer Relations Manager Martin Wild said that the team are delighted to bring the play to Residents and their loved ones.
Martin said: “We feel incredibly honoured to host these performances of Grandma, Remember Me?
“We have supported many families through their journey with dementia and know the challenges this illness can bring.
“AZ2B’s production has won plaudits across the country for how poignant and moving it is for theatregoers.
“It’s going to be terrific to be able to give Residents and Relatives a chance to see such an excellent play in the comfort of our Care Homes.”
