Double Celebration for Haydale Care Home: Winners of the Arts in Care Award and Finalists at the NAPA Awards

8 October 2025

It’s been a week of joy and celebration at Haydale Care Home, where creativity and innovation have once again taken centre stage. The home has achieved two incredible milestones – being crowned winners of the Arts in Care Award in the “Most Joyful” category and announced as finalists for the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) Award for Digital Engagement.

As part of Arts in Care Day, Haydale hosted a vibrant week filled with artistic expression — from a “Recycled Orchestra” performance to an “Opera with Orange Juice” breakfast morning. Residents and team members came together to create uplifting pieces, including their winning entry: the Affirmation Sunflower and Friendship Wreath.

Arts in Care Homes celebrated the project on their official Facebook page, stating:

“Haydale Care Home embraced the theme of Green with their vibrant Friendship Wreath, created from residents’ handprints, flowers and butterflies – each symbol carrying messages of joy, renewal and kindness. Alongside their sunflower affirmations, the project became a joyful celebration of togetherness. Their happiness shines in every photo and that joy radiates far beyond their home, spreading smiles to all who see it.”

The creative spirit at Haydale doesn’t stop there. Isabel Cummings and Kirstin Millar have been named finalists for the 2026 NAPA Award for Digital Engagement, recognising their ongoing commitment to using technology to support wellbeing and connection. This follows Haydale’s success at last year’s NAPA Awards, where they proudly took home the trophy for their Community Cupboard Foodbank initiative.

The home’s ever-growing Facebook page, which now boasts more than 1,450 followers, has become a digital hub for residents, families, and the wider community. It acts as an extension of the home’s activity timetable — featuring everything from music portals and virtual reality headsets to the innovative use of AI for creative projects. Residents have even enjoyed personalised colouring sheets designed using AI technology, helping them connect emotionally through art in new and meaningful ways.

These achievements perfectly showcase Haydale’s belief that creativity, connection, and technology can work hand-in-hand to bring joy and purpose to residents’ lives. With both national recognition and a vibrant community spirit, it’s clear that happiness truly blooms at Haydale.
