Elderslie Care Home Welcomes Furry Friends: Alpacas Hamish and Harry

Residents and staff at Elderslie Care Home were in for a delightful surprise recently when they received a visit from two charming and fluffy alpacas named Hamish and Harry. Originating from Peru, these lovable and curious creatures are known for their soft fur, and they certainly left an impression during their guided tour around the home.

As Hamish and Harry made their way through the corridors, they were met with cheers, gasps, laughter, and even a few surprised faces. Resident Rosemary Gibb couldn’t contain her admiration, exclaiming, “Aren’t they just amazing? They are just so lovely.”

Jacqueline Minghella, the Wellbeing Coordinator, expressed her delight at witnessing the joy on the faces of every resident during the encounter. “What a memorable experience was had by all!” she remarked.

Alex Kennedy echoed the sentiment, exclaiming, “This is fantastic! They are just lovely.”

Home Manager Richard shared in the excitement, noting that both staff and residents thoroughly enjoyed the visit. “It was an absolute delight to see the reaction on the residents’ faces when they met the alpacas. A day to remember,” he said.

Even the Scottish Fire Service, who happened to be visiting the home at the time, were taken aback by the unexpected visitors. “It was such a lovely surprise and so nice to see such wonderful visitors to the care home. We couldn’t believe alpacas came to visit,” they remarked.
