Friends With Fur Visit Brings Smiles to Residents
16 December 2025
On 2nd December, residents enjoyed a heart-warming Friends With Fur visit as they welcomed a very special guest into the home, a five-year-old guinea pig named Shelby.
Shelby, whose favourite snacks include sweetcorn and red pepper, quickly became the star of the day, winning over every heart in the room. Residents loved learning more about guinea pigs, spending time gently stroking, cuddling, and snuggling with her, creating a calm and joyful atmosphere throughout the visit.
The visit sparked many happy memories and emotional connections. Resident June’s face lit up the moment she met Shelby, sharing that she was “incredibly happy” as she has had guinea pigs all her life and has always loved animals.
Another resident, Jen, was equally delighted, explaining that cuddling Shelby brought back fond childhood memories of the short-haired guinea pig she grew up with. The experience offered a wonderful opportunity for residents to reminisce, share stories, and connect over their love of animals.
Animal visits like these play an important role in supporting wellbeing, providing comfort, reducing anxiety, and encouraging social interaction. The gentle nature of Shelby and the joy she brought made the visit a truly special one for everyone involved.
It was a day filled with smiles, warmth, and meaningful moments, and residents are already looking forward to welcoming more furry friends in the future.
