Goldielea Care Home’s ‘End of Summer Party’ Brings Caribbean Vibes to Residents and Families
12 October 2023

Residents, families and staff dressed up in garlands and bright colours and enjoyed a feast of Caribbean style food. Everyone sang, danced, drank tropical fruit punch and some even got temporary glitter tattoos!

The Residents came up with the theme for the party as they wanted to do something bright and cheerful to combat the rainy weather outside.
Head Chef, Caroline Osbourne, designed a menu including Jerk Chicken, Fish Stew, Lyme and Thyme Marinated Chicken, Caribbean Vegetable Stew with Rice and Beans, Rum Cake, Fruit Kebabs and Mango Fool.

Singer Denzil Tom got the party started with a mixture of hits from the 60’s to the 90’s that kept all ages entertained There was a children’s activity area, pick n mix table, balloon modelling, tombola and home-baked cupcakes.

Home Manager, Sue Mackle, said “It was a fantastic day and we created some wonderful memories. It was great to see the children and the Residents interacting, smiling and having fun. Thank-you so much to everyone involved and for the lovely comments and feedback we received after the party. Watch this space for the next one!”
