Family Fireworks Night Lights Up Goldielea November
9 November 2021
Bonfire night was a time of family celebration for Residents at Goldielea as their loved ones attended the first post-pandemic event at the Home.
Preparations began earlier in the week as Residents made their ‘Guy’ to sit on top of the bonfire.
Instead of making it in Mr Fawkes’ image, there was a competition to name the Goldielea Guy, and the name ‘Miss Carol Covid’ was picked out of a hat.
During the creation of Miss Carol, Residents got chatting about their favourite memories of bonfire nights gone by, including the display that used to be held at Park Farm, Dumfries.
Activities Co-ordinator Sarah Thirlwall said it got everyone in the mood for the bonfire night event, which was a roaring success.
Sarah said: “It was terrific to be able to invite Family and friends to join Residents for the fireworks night event.
“We served pumpkin soup and hot dogs as refreshments and some warm drinks.
“The fireworks display was terrific, and we were all very proud of the bonfire.
“After the year we’ve had, it felt appropriate to name our ‘Guy’ after the thing we most want to see the back of.
“A great time was had by all, and it was a wonderful way to spend a magical night together.”
