Goldielea’s Steph Completes Three Peaks Challenge For Minibus Fundraiser
17 June 2021

Intrepid Goldielea Support Worker Steph Nicholson has conquered the Three Peaks Challenge, in snow and wind, to raise money for the Care Home’s new minibus.
The 25-year-old scaled the summits of Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis, in under 24 hours, alongside her fiancé Daniel and their friend Lewis.
Steph was determined to bring in donations to add to Goldielea’s new transport fund, so Residents can enjoy getting out and about in the community again.
The gruelling challenge pushed the trio to their limits, but Steph said they were determined to see it through.
Steph said: “During the first lockdown, me and Daniel got into hiking, so this seemed like the perfect challenge.
“It would mean everything to Goldielea to have a new minibus so we could take Residents out in groups and give them that freedom to get out and about in Dumfries.
“When our feet were killing us and the weather was horrendous, we knew we had to push through for them.”

The challenge started at Scaffel Pike where Steph said they faced the toughest test of their resilience.
Steph said: “It was raining when we started at the bottom, and by the time we were half-way up, the snow kicked in along with 65mph winds. We had snow up to our knees!
“Snowdon was a much more pleasant climb because we started at 2am and walked through the night. We reached the summit as the sun rose and it was an incredible view.
“It felt special to finish in Scotland at Ben Nevis, even though the weather was against us yet again! We smashed it in 5 hours, 25 minutes up and down, which felt amazing.
“I must admit, all of us are suffering now with aching feet and muscles! But it was worth it.”
So far, Steph, Daniel and Lewis have raised an incredible £1,500 towards the minibus fund. If you’d like to donate, click here.
