Golfhill Basketball Superstar Betty Scores Nine Hoops!

Golfhill Resident Betty stunned everyone at the Home this March by shooting nine basketball hoops in a row.

Giving Michael Jordan a run for his money, Betty showed the rest of Golfhill how it’s done during their first match with new equipment.

Activities Co-ordinator Collette purchased adjustable basketball hoops for all three units so Residents could enjoy regular games.

However, nobody anticipated Betty’s shooting skills as she took home the prize for top scorer.

Collette said: “Betty was unbelievable – we kept moving the basketball hoop further back, but she kept scoring every time.

“It was so much fun to try out our new net because the Residents absolutely loved it.

“They said that they wanted to play every day because they had such a good time, and perhaps some of them want to try to beat Betty’s record.”

The hoops, sourced from Activities To Share, help Collette and her Colleagues run inclusive exercise sessions.

Residents can participate by standing up or sitting down, and the portable nets can easily be taken to different locations.

Collette said: “As soon as the weather picks up, we’ll use the net in the garden too.

“It’s a great way to get the whole group engaged and get them out in the fresh air.

“Shooting hoops also got the Residents talking about playing basketball and netball when they were younger.

“They shared some happy memories, and Betty got to choose a prize for coming first.

“She picked out a nice box of chocolates and some cosy bed socks, which was great.

“We’re all looking forward to seeing her in action again!”
