Fruity Tesco Donation Helps Gorton Parks Residents Stay Hydrated
23 July 2021

Supermarket giant Tesco delighted Residents at Gorton Parks with a donation of fruits and juices for Nutrition and Hydration Week.
Activities Co-ordinator Tracey Brooks approached the store to find out if they were making donations to local care homes but never imagined she’d get such an incredible response.
Shortly after the visited Tesco, Gorton’s Community Champion Leah got in touch with Tracey to find out about the activities planned for Nutrition and Hydration Week.
She asked Tracey to send a list of everything they needed, and then Leah turned up to deliver the lot a couple of days later.
Residents then enjoyed a taste testing session with smoothies, fruit kebabs and juices, where some of them got to try fruits they’d never had before.
Tracey said: “The Residents loved it – we can’t thank Tesco and Leah enough for their support.
“We couldn’t believe it when Leah arrived with everything on our list taken care of. It was incredibly generous.
“The smoothies went down a storm. One of our Residents kept getting up to take another one because he was enjoying them so much.
“Some of the Residents had never had some of the fruits before, so it was great to see their reactions.”
A few days later, Tracey and Activities Colleagues Kirsty, Leona and Maygan did a second tasting, this time with a savoury theme, and invited Leah along as their special guest.
Tracey added: “It was our way of saying ‘thank you’ for all Leah’s help and support.
“The whole week was so positive, and the Residents really enjoyed themselves.”
