Hammerwich Hall Care Home radiated with patriotic spirit yesterday as residents and staff came together to celebrate St. George’s Day in grand style. Adorned with English flags and vibrant red roses, the home served as the perfect backdrop for a quintessentially English affair.

In the weeks leading up to the celebration, residents eagerly coloured red roses in anticipation of the special day. On the morning of St George’s Day, the home buzzed with activity as residents participated in a baking session, crafting homemade scones from scratch, while the kitchen staff prepared delectable treats such as homemade sausage rolls and sandwiches.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the afternoon tea party, where residents indulged in a delightful spread served on lovely China cup and plate sets. Frank and Janet, among others, expressed their delight at the homemade scones and sausage rolls, with Frank praising his wife Janet’s baking prowess.

Katie remarked on the excellence of the afternoon tea party, highlighting the tasty treats, including éclairs and sausage rolls, while Mal found the entire affair to be beautiful, from the elegant China cups and plates to the delicious food offerings.
Mavian savored every bite of the homemade scones adorned with clotted cream and jam, while Jean echoed the sentiment, describing the afternoon tea as a lovely treat, particularly relishing the homemade scones.
