Hammerwich Hall Celebrates Gwen’s 100th Birthday In Style
5 October 2021
Birthday girl Gwen was showered with cards and presents as she celebrated turning 100th at Hammerwich Hall.
Colleagues helped Gwen get ready for a lovely lunch out at her daughter Linda’s house, where son Martin joined them for a family get-together.
While Gwen was dining out, the team at Hammerwich Hall got to work decorating her bedroom with the many cards she received, including one from a very special VIP.
Gwen was thrilled to receive her telegraph from Her Majesty The Queen, as well as well-wishes from her many loved ones.
Activities Co-ordinator Beverley Brown said that once Gwen returned to Hammerwich, she was led to the dining room where a special birthday cake was waiting for her.
Beverley said: “We took her on a detour and presented her with a beautiful birthday cake handmade by our chef, Kylie.
“The Residents and my Colleagues gathered around to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her and presented her with a birthday balloon.
“Gwen said to me, ‘I can’t believe I’ve reached 100 years old!’ but it’s no surprise to us.
“She’s a strong, mobile and fiercely independent lady, and it’s inspiring to see her continue to thrive here at Hammerwich Hall.”
