15 November 2023

Residents of Hammerwich Hall, came together in a heartfelt and creative commemoration of Remembrance Day this year. In the days leading up to November 11, the atmosphere at the Hall buzzed with activity as residents enthusiastically crafted beautiful bunting and poignant pictures of poppies, paying homage to the sacrifices made by veterans.

A particular source of pride for the residents was the poppy staircase display they created a few years ago. Despite the passage of time, the display continues to captivate and evoke emotions each year.

On the eve of Remembrance Day, the Hall hosted a special Reminisce Session. Residents gathered to share memories and stories, particularly reflecting on the lives lost during wartime. It became a poignant moment of connection, allowing them to collectively remember and honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice, fostering a sense of camaraderie and solidarity among the residents.

The climax of the Remembrance Day observance occurred on Sunday, November 11, when residents gathered to watch the BBC memorial service.

The event served not only as a tribute to the past but also as a reminder of the enduring spirit and resilience of the Hammerwich Hall community. The collective efforts in crafting the displays and participating in the various activities demonstrated the residents’ deep appreciation for history and their unwavering commitment to preserving the memory of those who served their country.
