‘Hero’ Billy Scoops Happy Award for His Work at Annan Court Care Home
30 September 2025

Billy McCulloch, 65, has worked as the maintenance manager at Annan Court Care Home on Watchhall Road for the past eight years and was nominated by colleagues for his “passion, dedication and positive energy”.
He was awarded the accolade and a gift from employer Advinia Healthcare, who launched the ‘Heroes of Happiness’ scheme to recognise outstanding work in the organisation.
According to his nominators, Billy’s “commitment to improving the environment for residents and visitors is nothing short of remarkable. Whether he’s carrying out repairs, redecorating, lending a helping hand, or going the extra mile to make someone’s day brighter, Billy does it with aplomb.”
The Annan Court team gathered to celebrate Billy’s recognition, where he was presented with his ‘Hero of Happiness’ certificate and a gift, a power tool he has had his eye on for a while.
Billy said: “It’s an honour to be nominated as the first Hero of Happiness. I couldn’t do my job without the wider team. I love my role here at Annan Court as it directly impacts the residents’ wellbeing – we all love a great environment to live and work in.”
Advinia Healthcare’s ‘Heroes of Happiness’ are chosen by their peers who nominate those they feel make an exceptional contribution to their teams and the lives of the residents.
Home manager Leila Charfadi said that Billy is a very worthy recipient of the accolade.
Leila added: “Billy has been a cornerstone of the team at Annan Court for an incredible eight years, and we simply can’t imagine the home without him.
“From day one, he has brought passion, dedication, and a can-do attitude that inspires everyone around him.
“He is not only a joy to work with but also an essential part of what makes Annan Court feel like home.”
