Fun-loving Residents Go Down Under At Hill View’s Australia Day Party
4 February 2022

Hill View threw a bonza party to celebrate Australia Day in January – with DJ Michael on the decks.
The Home is always looking for inspiration for their bi-monthly celebrations, where Residents enjoy top tunes, dancing and socialising.
On Wednesday 26th January, Activities Co-ordinator Michael and Colleagues transformed Hill View’s lounge into an Aussie paradise.
As they donned wacky sunglasses, cheeky masks, and sipped delicious fruit juices, DJ Michael spun some of Oz’s top music on his professional decks.
Michael said: “Strewth, that was a party and a half!
“I had some Kylie, Jason and Black Lace on the turntables, as well as Aboriginal folk songs.
“Much as we’d love to have thrown shrimp on the barbie, the weather wasn’t quite as good as it is on the Gold Coast.
“Instead, Residents had a boogie and sang along to ‘Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport’ and lots of other top tunes. They loved it.”
Recently, Michael has invested in a basketball ring to encourage Residents to keep moving.
At the Australia Day party, plenty of hoops got thrown, and the other beach games saw Residents getting active.
Michael adds: “We like to find ways to have fun while moving, and the basketball set has been a big hit.
“Our inflatable kangaroos, sharks and crocodiles were also a hit, but they wouldn’t fit through the hoop!
“We might be thousands of miles away from Australia, but hopefully, we captured their spirit at our party.”
