Alma Barn Lodge care home has embarked on a heartwarming journey of intergenerational connection by forming a special bond with Baby Boppers, an initiative aimed at fostering community engagement and creating lasting relationships between seniors and younger generations.
At the heart of Baby Boppers’ mission lies the desire to assist new parents in integrating into the community while nurturing intergenerational bonds. Their innovative approach involves hosting musical activities that bring together care home residents and young children, facilitating a rich exchange of knowledge and experiences.
The classes, characterized by lively interaction, feature a delightful mix of traditional nursery rhymes, action songs, and dancing, accompanied by puppets, instruments, parachute games, and bubbles, creating a magical atmosphere where joy knows no bounds.

During Alma Barn Lodge’s inaugural coffee morning with Baby Boppers, six mothers and their little ones graced the home with their presence. Residents relished the opportunity to engage with the mothers, discovering shared experiences and timeless truths about parenthood, from sleepless nights to the trials of the “terrible twos.”
Liv, the dedicated course leader from Baby Boppers, expressed her delight at Alma Barn Lodge’s warm reception of the local mothers, emphasizing the significance of the intergenerational exchange. Myra, an 84-year-old resident, found solace in the presence of the young children, reminiscing about her own days of motherhood and finding common ground with the mothers over shared challenges and joys.

For Kirsty, a mother of 14-week-old twins, the partnership with Alma Barn Lodge offered a sanctuary close to home, providing a cozy and inviting environment for both mothers and children to connect and thrive.
As the partnership blossomed, Alma Barn Lodge welcomed even more mothers and their little ones to another session, with 11 mothers and 15 children participating. Jenny, a mother of an 8-month-old daughter, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to give back and brighten a resident’s day, drawing from her own experiences with her grandmother in a care home.
For Tommy, aged 71, holding a baby during the session evoked precious memories of his own children’s infancy, underscoring the timeless joy of parental love and the universal language of affection.
