Love and Faith in Action: Tzu Chi Foundation Brings Festive Cheer to Roseacres Care Home

Here at Roseacres Care Home, we’re always excited to welcome the Tzu Chi Foundation UK, who never fail to brighten our residents’ days with their kindness and generosity. Founded in 1966 by Dharma Master Cheng Yen, a Buddhist nun, the Tzu Chi Foundation has grown into a global charity that has provided aid in over 136 countries. With branches in 65 countries, their work embodies love and faith in action, supporting those in need around the world—including right here at Roseacres.

Twice a year, we have the privilege of hosting the Tzu Chi volunteers—once in the summer and again during the festive Christmas season. Christmas is a time of joy, giving, and togetherness, and their visits truly embody the spirit of the season.

This past December, Wilson from Tzu Chi Foundation reached out to confirm their visit, carefully planning every detail to make the day extra special. He inquired about our residents, including how many we had, their birthdays, and other little details to tailor the visit to us. On December 21, the team of volunteers arrived, spanning all age groups—from energetic youngsters as young as eight to enthusiastic seniors—all with hearts full of devotion.

Their visit was a treat from start to finish. They delighted everyone with a wonderful performance featuring singing, dancing, and even a solo cello performance by a talented 8-year-old. Despite his young age, he performed beautifully, impressing everyone in the audience, from our residents and their families to friends and staff.

As the festivities drew to a close, the Tzu Chi volunteers made sure every resident received a thoughtful Christmas gift. Residents who had recently celebrated their birthdays were given special attention, receiving cards, a cheerful round of “Happy Birthday,” and the chance to blow out candles on a cake.

It was a truly magical day, filled with smiles, laughter, and heartfelt moments. We are so grateful to the Tzu Chi Foundation for their time, dedication, and devotion. Their visits leave a lasting impact on all of us, and we’re already looking forward to their next one.
