Madeira House Residents Groove Along To Choir Crooners

It was time to dig out the dancing shoes at Madeira House this April when the Caritas Community Singers performed a toe-tapping selection of classic songs.

Residents were thrilled when the choir showed up for their annual performance on Wednesday 27th April.

The melodious group stormed through a set that included country and western classics, Elvis hits and wartime favourites.

During the barn-storming performances, Madeira House Residents joined in with the songs and got to their feet for a bit of a boogie too.

Activities Co-ordinator Kat Schiavone said that everyone had a wonderful afternoon.

Kat said: “Every year, the Caritas Community Singers come and perform for us, and the Residents just love them.

“It was a very inspiring and joyful afternoon, full of music, smiles and happiness.

“For the team here, it’s very moving to see Residents singing and dancing along to the songs they know and love.

“I know it means a lot to the singers themselves to bring so much happiness.”

The Madeira House kitchen team served up scrumptious buttercream muffins, biscuits, and hot beverages during the group’s afternoon visit.

There was also time to talk about the Caritas Community Singers’ upcoming fundraising concert for Ukraine.

Kat added: “Like us all, the choir is horrified by the events unfolding in Ukraine and wants to do their bit to help.

“They will be performing a concert and giving the proceeds to charities helping Ukraine refugees.

“We’re hoping to take Residents to the concert and show our support for such a worthy cause.”
