Maycroft Care Home Raises Funds for Red Nose Day 2024 with Sponsored Walk
20 March 2024
Maycroft care home is buzzing with excitement as it announces a successful fundraising effort for Red Nose Day 2024. Residents, staff, and supporters came together to participate in a sponsored walk, raising an impressive £48 for the charitable cause.
The highlight of the fundraising initiative was a sponsored walk organized by the care home, with residents taking the lead in planning and execution. Throughout the week of 8th to 14th March, residents eagerly embraced walking challenges, pushing their limits and surpassing expectations.
Despite varying mobility levels, residents rallied together and collectively covered an impressive distance of 3.5 miles. From navigating the length of the ground floor corridor to embarking on round trips of the garden and venturing to the local shop and back, every step taken was a testament to their determination and spirit.
The sponsored walk not only served as a means of raising funds but also provided numerous benefits for the participants. Improved mobility, moments of fresh air, and a sense of accomplishment were just some of the positive outcomes experienced by residents.
To celebrate their fundraising achievement and mark Red Nose Day in style, residents and staff came together to bake Red Nose Day Cupcakes, adding a festive touch to the occasion. The joyous atmosphere filled the care home as residents indulged in the sweet treats, knowing that their efforts were making a difference in the lives of others.
Wellbeing coordinator, Lucy, expressed her delight, stating, “It’s wonderful to be able to raise money for such a worthy cause but also know that we have been improving the physical and mental health of our residents at the same time. With the better weather on its way, my aim is to keep up our residents’ enthusiasm for fresh air walks as it’s so beneficial.'”
The success of the sponsored walk and fundraising efforts is a testament to the strong community spirit and dedication of everyone involved at Maycroft care home.
