Virginia’s Flower Painting Given As Cherished Gift To Her Daughter
21 June 2021

Novice painter Virginia from Maycroft Care Home has created a stunning painting of daisies that’s been framed and presented to her daughter.
She’s only been living at Maycroft for a short time, but Virginia has been getting involved with plenty of activities at the Home.
In June, Activities Co-ordinator Jayne Paxton led a creative session in the garden where Residents picked their favourite flowers and used them to make pictures.
Virginia picked a daisy and had a great time turning her black canvas into a floral masterpiece.
Jayne said: “It was a terrific afternoon in the garden for the flower painting group.
“We deconstructed the flowers and then used each piece with different colour paints to create the effect.
“Virginia’s daisy painting was stunning – and I knew I had to get it framed for her daughter.”
“It meant so much to her to have something her mum made.”
Now the weather is improving, Jayne has been taking every opportunity to get the Residents outside and enjoying the fresh air.
She’s been running chair-based exercise classes in the grounds, as well as lots of other sensory activities.
Jayne said: “It’s wonderful to be able to get out in the fresh air and enjoy our beautiful surroundings.
“I know the Residents enjoy it, and it allows me to put on a wider variety of activities.”
