Creative Millview Residents Bring The Outdoors In With Stunning Flower Art

Flowers were the inspiration for a creative session at Millview Care Home recently as Residents created their own wall hangings.

Activities Co-ordinator Lindsay Massot led an afternoon of crafting using the beautiful blooms grown in the Home’s gardens.

There were plenty of flowers to choose from as Millview has been taking part in ‘Advinia In Bloom’, a horticultural challenge for all Homes.

Residents chose bright and beautiful buttercups, daisies, lobelia and fuchsia petals to use in their wall hangings.

According to Lindsay, the group were pleased with the results of all their hard work.

Lindsay said: “It was a great session because everyone got stuck in and had fun.

“It was an enjoyable way to spend the time selecting pretty petals and designing each wall hanging.

“The Residents were amazed by how good they looked when we were finished, so we hung them up around Millview.

“They are a lovely reminder of a wonderful afternoon.”

The Residents and Millview Colleagues enjoyed being out in the garden and getting involved with gardening for ‘Advinia in Bloom’.

They grew peas, potatoes, sunflowers and made hanging baskets out of recycled coke bottles.

Recently, they’ve established plants that are strong enough to withstand the winter months before it’s time to bring the garden back to life in early 2022.

Lindsay said: “We’re already thinking about what we might plant next spring – it’s fantastic that the Residents want to get involved with our planning too.”
