Photography Masterclass Captures Natural Beauty at Bishop’s Cleeve
29 June 2021

The beauty of nature was captured on camera by Bishop’s Cleeve Residents as part of a masterclass from one multi-talented Colleague.
Professional photographer Jess Thompson offered to teach Residents Margaret, Pat and Margaret the basics on National Nature Photography Day.
The ladies gathered in the Bishop’s Cleeve garden for the session on Tuesday 15th June, where they spent a wonderful afternoon taking photographs of the flora and fauna around them.

According to Jess, it was a terrific chance for her to use her skills to provide a meaningful activity at the Home.
Jess said: “My passion for photography began when my first daughter was born, and I’m mostly self-taught.
“I love to pick up my camera at every opportunity, and I’d promised the lovely Residents that I would bring in my cameras and teach them.
“They couldn’t have been more thrilled, and we spent a fantastic afternoon together in the sunshine.
“It was the perfect way to spend National Nature Photography Day and to better appreciate our wonderful grounds.”
This is not the first time Jess has put her photography skills to good use for others. She said that during the pandemic, she was able to do fundraising using her trusty cameras.
Jess added: “Recently, I’ve done doorstep photography sessions where I took no payment but asked for a donation to the NHS.
“I was able to raise £200, which was great. Seeing people’s reactions to the photos I’ve taken of them is so fulfilling.”
