Netherton Green Care Home Conjures Up a Fang-tastic Halloween Fête

3 November 2023

Netherton Green Care Home transformed into a hub of Halloween fun and nostalgia as residents, family, and staff members came together to celebrate the spookiest night of the year. In a heartwarming display of unity and camaraderie, this year’s Halloween festivities were a roaring success, filled with laughter, treats, and reminiscing about the good old days.

The kitchen staff at the care home got in on the action, baking a spooky chocolate cake that had everyone’s taste buds tingling with delight.

The party was filled with Halloween sweets and treats that catered to the residents’ inner child. From candy corn to chocolate bars, there was no shortage of sugary delights to go around.

To keep the Halloween spirit alive, the residents played a spirited game of “Tin Can Alley,” trying their luck to win the tantalizing treats hidden inside the tin cans.

One resident, Graham Lane, took the initiative to ensure that no one missed out on the Halloween fun. “I love joining in, and I’m up for anything. I wanted to make sure none of my friends missed out, so I went around all the rooms and handed out treats,” Graham said with a smile. His dedication to spreading joy and inclusivity was truly the spirit of Halloween personified.

The evening continued with residents and their families taking to the dance floor, grooving to Halloween music. Singing and dancing were the order of the day, and everyone reveled in the joy of the occasion.

The evening ended with a viewing of the classic Halloween movie, “Hocus Pocus,” on the TV, which provided a relaxing end to the festivities.

Karen Winmill, Wellbeing Coordinator, expressed her delight at the evening’s festivities. “It was a big success, loads of residents joined in, and family came along too. We reminisced about going trick-or-treating and spoke about happy childhood memories. There was lots of laughter, and we made some great memories,” Karen gushed.

As the night drew to a close, it was evident that the Halloween celebration at Netherton Green Care Home had been a massive success, thanks to the effort and enthusiasm of both the residents and the staff. It was a night of spooky delights, cherished memories, and a reminder that age is no barrier to having a wickedly good time.
