Norwood Christmas Fayre Brings Festive Cheer To Residents And Families 2

A magical festive fayre complete with a visiting Santa Claus has got Norwood residents and colleagues in the Christmas spirit.

Team Norwood staged their Christmas fayre on Saturday 4th December outside the Home and invited families and friends to join in the fun.

There was a Santa’s grotto at the front of Norwood where local children came to tell the man himself what they wanted for Christmas.

Visitors were able to purchase homemade Christmas cards, raffle tickets and refreshments from the stalls at the back.

Activities Co-ordinator Susan Devenay said she was thankful that the weather held so that everybody could have a socially distanced good time together.

Susan said: “There was a wonderful atmosphere at our Christmas fayre – it was the first time in a long time that the Residents could enjoy an event with their families.

“We were so lucky that it was a crisp, cold day, but it stayed dry so we could safely mingle outdoors with plenty of space.

“The Residents had a great time showing their loved ones around and joining in the fun. It felt like the perfect way to welcome people back and get in the Christmas spirit.

Norwood was raising money for the Residents’ fund by selling raffle and tombola tickets, as well as delicious hot chocolate and homemade bakes.

They were touched by the reaction from families and friends, who said what a terrific event it was.

Susan said: “We worked hard to make it a success.

“My Colleague Kevin was Santa for the day and did a brilliant job with the kids and Residents.

“It was lovely to get such wonderful comments from Relatives and to know that we’ve raised money for the Residents to have more activities to look forward to.”
