Norwood Nursing Home Unveils Stunning Lounge Makeover
31 January 2024
In a heartwarming and collaborative effort, Norwood Nursing Home has undergone a remarkable transformation, turning its front lounge into a tranquil haven, adorned with the personal touch of its residents.
The project began with Wellbeing Coordinator Ellen Hume and resident Agnes Timmons venturing to the local B&Q store to handpick an array of wallpaper samples, capturing the essence of the residents’ diverse tastes and preferences.
Subsequently, a resident meeting was convened, where spirited debates unfolded over the wallpaper choices, culminating in a unanimous vote for the preferred design.
It was then all hands on deck as staff and residents stripped the old lounge wall paper together before the maintenance team completed the new look. See picture below of Resident, Cathy Lintott stripping down the old wallpaper.
The grand reveal was marked by a celebratory event attended by local Member of Parliament for East Renfrewshire, Kristin Oswald. Delighted with the transformation, Oswald remarked, “It’s like a posh hotel and very relaxing.” She went on to express admiration for Norwood’s approach, noting, “I love how you have empowered the residents to choose how to decorate their own home.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, officiated by Kristin Oswald, symbolized not just the unveiling of a redecorated lounge but also the embodiment of empowerment and community spirit. Norwood Nursing Home’s initiative has not only brought about a visual transformation but also fostered a deeper connection among residents, staff, and the wider community.
