Oxford Manor Care Home welcomed a wave of warmth and nostalgia on Saturday, March 9th, as they hosted a Mother’s Day afternoon tea, enveloping residents and their loved ones in a tapestry of cherished memories and mellifluous melodies.
The morning began with residents gathering to share heartfelt stories and reminisce about their beloved mothers, their laughter mingling with the anticipation of the afternoon’s festivities.
As the clock struck afternoon, the dulcet tones of the harp filled the air, courtesy of Lizzie, who graced the gathering with her enchanting music. Set against a backdrop of delightful sandwiches and homemade cakes, guests savored each bite while being serenaded by the ethereal melodies drifting from Lizzie’s harp strings.
A special tribute was extended to the dedicated mothers among the staff, whose unwavering commitment ensured the success of the day, their efforts acknowledged with gratitude and admiration.
Lizzie, the talented harpist, expressed her gratitude for the warm reception she received from staff, residents, and their families, emphasising the privilege of performing for Oxford Manor Care Home. With a music degree from Royal Holloway, University of London, Lizzie’s passion for the harp shines through in every note she plays.
Janet, a resident of Oxford Manor, lauded the exquisite table settings, delightful food, and the enchanting ambiance created by Lizzie’s performance, describing the afternoon as a perfect blend of relaxation and joy spent with her family.
Kathy, daughter of resident Audrey, echoed the sentiment, expressing her delight at the magical atmosphere and the opportunity to share such a special occasion with her mother.
