Oxford Manor Care Home Launches Supportive Dementia Cafe for Locals

3 November 2025

The Butterfly Café will open on Saturday, 6th December at Oxford Manor Care Home on Didcot Road, where visitors can take part in a range of dementia-focused activities.

Through the monthly café, the team at the Advinia Healthcare home promises to provide a place for visitors to have meaningful experiences with peers, use innovative dementia technology, and boost their wellbeing.

At the first Butterfly Café, Advinia’s new Head of Dementia, Sarah Merriman, will share how her deeply personal experience of dementia has shaped her professional commitment to improving care for people living with the condition.

Sarah said: “My life changed beyond recognition when my grandmother was diagnosed with dementia, and I became her primary carer.

“I’ve spent many years advocating for person-centred care and creating the conditions where people living with dementia can thrive, not just survive.”

Visitors can expect live music, insightful talks, and delicious refreshments at the Butterfly Café, which will run between 10am-12pm.

Sarah added: “At Advinia Healthcare, we’ve made a dementia promise to create environments that empower residents, provide opportunities for meaningful engagement and put shared decision-making at the heart of care.

“It’s a privilege to invite people in the Didcot community the chance to join us at Oxford Manor for a regular event that we hope will be uplifting for everyone.”
