Parklands Court Honours Long Serving Staff At 30th Anniversary Party

Dedicated Colleagues from Parklands Court took centre stage at a Showman-themed party to celebrate the Home’s 30th birthday.

Each of the 15 Parklands staff who’d been there for over 20 years received an engraved tumbler, a bottle of wine and a long service certificate as a thank you.

Home Manager Patrice Neal was joined by Walsall North MP Eddie Hughes and Bloxwich East Councillor Mark Statham to make the presentations on Saturday 3rd September.

Residents, Relatives, Colleagues and members of the local community gathered for the party, which was inspired by showmen of the circus.

With over 70 people in attendance, Patrice said it was a wonderful celebration of Parklands Court.

Patrice said: “We couldn’t be happier with how the day turned out – I got to see the biggest smiles on the faces of Residents and their loved ones.

“It was wonderful to highlight some special members of our staffing team, who’ve been here for over two decades.

“It was a joyous occasion that reflected everything that makes Parklands Court such a special place to live and work.”

The party saw many Colleagues don their circus costumes, and Residents loved seeing the strong man, bearded lady and ringmaster in attendance.

Team Parklands hit on the theme after being inspired by local legend Pat Collins of Bloxwich, the leading showman of the West Midlands during the 19th century.

Resident Jocey Mills said: “It was lovely – I really enjoyed going outside to enjoy the music and see so many smiling faces.

“It was a beautiful day and the first time I’d wanted to get out and involved in the festivities since moving here in 2021. I’m so glad I did.”

Meanwhile, Activity and Wellbeing Co-ordinator Norma Morrison said the day was particularly special as she marked 28 years in her role.

Among the guests were former Parklands Court Colleagues who returned to celebrate the achievements of their friends at the Home.

Norma said: “The day was absolutely brilliant.

“I was really honoured to receive my Long Service certificate and gifts – it truly made me feel like a valued member of the team.

“It was a nice opportunity to reflect on how the Home has come along through the years and to catch up with former Colleagues during the festivities.”
