Parklands Residents Enjoy A Day At The Seaside Without Leaving Home
26 July 2021

The conservatory at Parklands Court’s Collins Unit was transformed into a seaside destination this July for a day out while staying in.
Activities Co-ordinator Paula Purcell was talking to a Resident about how much they used to enjoy trips to the coast with their family when she hit upon the idea.
Paula wanted to provide a seaside experience for Residents – who were missing the winning combination of sun, sea and sand – without them having to leave the Home.
Using some props, a bit of imagination and sweet treats, Paula created an immersive experience for the delighted group.
Paula said: “It was an excellent opportunity to make a Resident’s memories come to life and give everyone something completely different to enjoy.
“My Colleague Pat created a seaside peep board and a model of the Blackpool tower to use at the event.
“We also had an aquatic scene on the television, played seaside songs and had a hook a duck.”
The Residents also got to enjoy some of their favourite seaside treats, including candy floss, ice cream and shandies.
Paula added: “We also had a sing-a-long to ‘Oh, I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside’ and some other holiday songs.
“It was a lovely afternoon, and the Residents really enjoyed their ‘mini break’ to the coast.”
