Pet Therapy Brings Joy to Parklands Care Home Residents

22 February 2024

In the heartwarming ambiance of Parklands Care Home, the presence of two furry companions has sparked immeasurable joy among its residents. With tails wagging and hearts full of love, the dogs have become cherished members of the close-knit community.

Residents eagerly anticipate the arrival of these special guests, with one such resident, John, eagerly inquiring about their schedule throughout the week. For him, these dogs are more than just animals; they’re companions with whom he happily shares his sweets. The bond between John and the dogs is undeniable, evident in the immediate recognition they share upon meeting.

Marjorie, another resident, finds solace and joy in the presence of these furry visitors. As a former dog owner herself, their visits stir up fond memories, filling her heart with warmth. The simple act of petting and interacting with the dogs transports her back to happier times, reminding her of the unconditional love and companionship animals bring.

And then there’s Sylvia, who can’t help but express her desire to take the dogs home with her.

As the two dogs make their rounds through the home, they receive a warm welcome from each resident, their gentle demeanour inviting strokes and fusses from eager hands. The simple act of petting the dogs brings immense joy to the residents, brightening their days and lifting their spirits.

“It’s amazing to see the impact that the pets have on our residents,” says Allie, the activities coordinator at Parklands. “Their visits provide a sense of comfort and companionship, and it’s truly heartwarming to witness the smiles they bring to everyone’s faces.”
