West Ridings Residents Bowled Over By Primary School Video Messages
1 July 2021

There was excitement for the Residents of West Ridings Care Home this May when they received extra special post from treasured friends.
Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane delivered a collection of beautiful cards, pictures and video messages for everyone to enjoy.
The children worked hard on making their colourful creations, as well as videotaping musical performances for the Residents to see.
Among the messages sent were pictures of love hearts with long arms, which represented the big hugs the children wanted to give the Residents.
According to Activities Co-ordinator Jo Dawson, the gesture meant the world to Residents.
Jo said: “It was the loveliest thing for the Outwood Primary children to do for us.
“The Residents loved looking at the cards and watching the videos, which were fantastic.
“Intergenerational friendship is so important for both Residents and the children, and we love it when Outwood Primary come to visit us.
“Of course, that’s not been possible during the pandemic, but we’re excited to welcome them back when it’s safe to do so.”
The children, who are in the nursery and foundation classes at Outwood Primary, wanted to let the Residents know they are thinking of them.
Their cheerful songs were all about the excitement of spring.
Jo added: “The nice weather definitely lifts spirits, and the songs were beautifully sung.
“Here at West Ridings, we feel very fortunate to have such lovely friends at Outwood Primary.”
