Residents of Parklands Court Care Home Embrace Bird Feeding Initiative

4 March 2024

Residents at Parklands Court Care Home have been embracing a new activity aimed at connecting them with nature and bringing joy to their daily routines.

In Collins House, Norman and William enthusiastically joined in to fill the bird feeders with seed and fat balls, while expressing their excitement about watching the birds. William, who loves keeping busy, remarked, “I love watching the birds,” highlighting the pleasure derived from observing the winged visitors.

Similarly, Rex finds solace in bird watching from the comfort of his room, as he gazes at his own bird feeder placed strategically outside his window.

Over at Samuel House, Marjorie and Sylvia eagerly participated in filling up additional feeders, expressing their anticipation at the prospect of bird watching. Marjorie, in particular, requested a feeder be placed opposite her window so she could have an optimal view, emphasizing, “I love watching the birds; it’s the magpies who are greedy, we will have to shoo them away.”

The initiative has seen a significant number of feeders filled and strategically placed around the gardens of the home, providing ample opportunities for residents to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature from their windows and conservatories.

This endeavour not only fosters a deeper connection with the natural world but also promotes a sense of well-being and engagement among the residents, as they eagerly await the arrival of their feathered friends each day.
