Roberttown Residents Keep Moving Thanks To New Exercise Club
17 April 2020

The Residents at Roberttown have been keeping fit, despite the 2020 lockdown, thanks to a new exercise club.
Activity Co-ordinator Glenys Kellet devised a whole new programme during the first lockdown to ensure Residents kept mobile.
She wanted to introduce a host of new exercise options into the mix, so spoke to the local physiotherapy team to get some ideas.
Soon Glenys was introducing Residents to chair yoga, new ball games, dance workouts and strength-based exercises.
Glenys said: “It was essential to get the right balance of fun and fitness, and the physio team have helped me achieve just that.
“The Residents have said how much they look forward to it. It’s restored their enthusiasm for exercise and has become a highlight on the weekly activity calendar.”
To support Residents with different levels of mobility, the exercises are suitable for those who are chair-based too.
When the weather is good, the sessions take place in Roberttown’s lovely gardens in the sun.
Home Manager Leah Walker commended Glenys on a job well done.
Leah said: “It’s been a fantastic success, and we’re all very proud of Glenys and the care staff for establishing the group and leading the sessions.”
