Woodstock surprises Ron and Elizabeth with Diamond anniversary well-wishes

Woodstock Care Home in Norfolk enlisted the help of caring initiative Postcards of Kindness to help Resident Ron and his wife Elizabeth mark their diamond wedding anniversary.
The couple, who are celebrating 60 years of marriage, couldn’t be together on their special day because Elizabeth isn’t able to visit Ron at Woodstock due to lockdown restrictions.
Colleagues were sad that they had to postpone plans for a party for the couple, so decided to find a different way to commemorate the special anniversary.
So, they asked people signed up to the Postcards of Kindness scheme to surprise Ron and Elizabeth with their congratulations.
Woodstock Activities Co-ordinator Naomi Daglish-Gage said that the couple were delighted by the kindness shown by the senders, some of whom made handmade cards.
Naomi said: “We couldn’t believe it, there were almost 60 cards sent in by people via the Postcards of Kindness scheme.
“Ron has the cards proudly displayed in his room – he was delighted to receive them. We were really sad we couldn’t host the party we had planned for Ron and Elizabeth on their anniversary, but we’re determined to mark the occasion when it’s safe to do so.
“But in the meantime, we just want to thank everyone who took the trouble to send cards – Ron and Elizabeth were incredibly touched by their efforts.”
